PHILANTHROPY
Sigma Delta Tau proudly supports two national philanthropies, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and Jewish Women International (JWI).
Prevent Childhood Abuse America
Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) is the nation’s oldest and largest organization committed to preventing child abuse and neglect before it happens. PCAA promotes programs and resources informed by science that enable kids, families, and entire communities to thrive—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Sigma Delta Tau established a partnership with PCAA over 40 years ago and we are happy to be a part of this legacy today.
Our chapter organizes two major events each year, ItFactor and Casino Night, to raise funds for PCAA. It Factor occurs in the fall semester and is a high-energy dance showdown as Greek life members compete for a chance to donate to the charities they’re passionate about—all while supporting PCAA. It's a highlight of the year, drawing participation from organizations all across campus! In the spring semester, we host Casino Night, where we offer a variety of games, including blackjack, craps, roulette, and poker. Participants can use their “casino chips” to play and, with each win, earn raffle tickets for a chance to win exciting prizes. This year we raised over $8,000 for PCAA and this incredible amount was made possible thanks to the generosity and support of everyone who attended and contributed to our events!
Jewish Women International
Jewish Women International (JWI) is the leading Jewish organization championing women and girls of every race, culture, ability, gender identity, and sexual orientation by fighting gender-based violence, preventing domestic violence and sexual abuse, addressing the intersection of domestic violence and gun violence, building pathways to long-term economic security, and strengthening access to every level of leadership in our communities, workplaces, and country.
We are proud to support JWI during Domestic Violence Awareness Month through our annual BookSDT Sale, where we sell pre-loved books to raise money for JWI’s National Library Initiative. This initiative creates children’s libraries in domestic violence shelters, providing a safe space for children to recover, study, and access essential resources. This year we were able to raise almost $2,000 for JWI, supporting their vital mission to uplift women and children in need.
