GAMMA TAU GRANT

What is the Gamma Tau Grant?

In order to ensure that each member is able to remain in our organization, over seven years ago, we instituted the Gamma Tau Grant (GTG), a scholarship named for our specific SDT chapter, which helps many of our sisters to pay dues. This is a fund that is for sisters, by sisters. This chapter was built on inclusivity and diversity, and we feel no one should face a financial barrier to participate in Greek life.

What is EAT Late?

The primary way that we fundraise for the GTG is through what we call EAT Late. EAT is a play on our Greek Letters. Though they translate to SDT, visually they appear to spell out the English word E-A-T. EAT Late is often comprised of a number of events spanning the course of a week. Sisters show up for each other by eating together and encouraging members outside of our sorority to join in as well. All of these events lead up to the pièce de résistance which is our cookie sale. People across campus look forward to our delicious cookies. This historically is the most fun and most successful part of EAT Late. Continue reading to learn more about our EAT Late events.

COOKIESDT 2022

For the first time since Spring 2019 our sisters were able to raise money for our beloved Gamma Tau Grant. Sistersdt baked, packaged, and delivered chocolate chip cookies all over campus. We even had some donations that asked for their cookies to be donated to a local homeless shelter so they could experience the same joy of warm cookies as all our sisters, family, and friends who ordered. This traditional event was a success even after the 2 year hiatus and we’re excited to put it on again, next spring.

Other EAT Late Events

Aside from the main cookie event, our VP Finance and Eat Late Coordinators have put together other opportunities for sisters and the community to raise money for our internal scholarship. In the past, we have partnered with Chipotle and beloved local restaurant Mel’s. Through these events, we are not only showing up for sisters who can benefit from the internal scholarship, but we are also supporting local business and helping foster a sense of community off campus!

EAT Late in Past Years

During the height of the pandemic, we changed our EAT Late event to better fit a virtual format. We found multiple Etsy shops that sold wellness baskets overflowing with things like face masks, candles, candy, and other items that could always provide cheer. We shared the event with the Columbia community as well as our friends and families. This new format allowed us to fundraise for each other, while also supporting small businesses, and that is something that we are extremely proud of. Each sister is an invaluable component of our chapter, and we're dedicated to ensuring that our sisterhood is not defined by one’s financial circumstances.
